Government Affairs Internship
June 2019
TPA Research is recruiting interns on a three-month basis with a view towards a permanent position thereafter. This will be a remote, part-time internship with regular interaction with the management team of TPA Research, both by phone and in person.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong knowledge of political structures at EU and Member State level, and an understanding of how policy decisions affect financial markets. An interest in current affairs, and a willingness to maintain knowledge of developments across Europe, are essential.
Expertise in a particular area is welcome, but the ability to quickly familiarise oneself with a wide range of new topics is as important. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate strong writing skills, with an emphasis on concision and clarity. A writing exercise will form part of the recruitment process. Work will be carried out in English, but a working knowledge of a second European language will be welcome.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting in the preparation of regular, forward looking research reports, typically 700 – 1000 words in length, focusing on political, economic, and financial developments in the EU, UK, and Europe more widely, and with both a macro and micro focus.
Consistent monitoring of subject areas relevant to individual TPA clients, forming the basis for regular bespoke updates.
Helping prepare and, where appropriate, participating in conference calls with clients, providing on the spot analysis and fielding questions.
